Peter Stanford
Peter Stanford became interested in art bookbinding as a result of visiting paper makers in Thailand and Laos. Nearing retirement from a lifetime of office work, he found the time to investigate the intricacies of hand book binding, particularly Coptic stitching which has been in use for about 2000 years and allows the pages to lay flat when the book is opened, making is especially suitable for sketch books and Memory or Momento Books which can be used to record some special occasion: Birthdays, Weddings and even funerals, where the guests can record their special memories of the persons involved.
Peter has discovered a niche market with his “Boxed Books” and has been invited to exhibit at Sydney Botanic Gardens; various Galleries and other Craft Exhibitions and was a member of North Shore Craft Group for some years.
