I started as an Art photographer photographing in Black and White, spending many hours in the dark room capturing hints on composition and chiaroscuro for pictorial effects.
Finding a place at the Hawkesbury River i started drawing and painting what i used to do as a child, so more than 25 yrs ago i decided to start drawing and painting capturing light and reflections from my surroundings of water, caves and bush-lands.
Going back and forward to the city in my little boat through the winter fog taking black and white photographs the rest of the year capturing the atmosphere of light and surroundings in my drawings and oil paintings and etchings. The bush caves rocks beautiful creeks which i explore around in my old rowing boat, so much material to draw from this ancient place.
In the city I mostly paint still life layering in oil on board and canvas my dutch heritage coming through.
